Common Commission Answers
I often get similar questions regarding the commission process, so I have put together a walkthrough list explaining the process below. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me!
Commission Process
Step 1
You send me a photo of your pet. The higher quality the photo, the better that I can translate it into a painting. If you are unsure of which picture to pick, I can assist in choosing the picture that would work best!
Step 2
We discuss details such as sizing and orientation. I offer a variety of canvas and panel sizes ranging from 5x7 to 12x16. If there is a specific size that I do not have listed, we can discuss a solution for you.
Step 3
I require a 50% deposit before starting on the painting. Then I will start on the painting after receiving the deposit.
Step 4
Once the portrait is done, it takes about 3 weeks to dry. I use oil paints, which take longer than other mediums to dry. Drying times also depend on humidity and the time of year. They can vary but it usually takes around 3 weeks. If a painting is required by a certain time, I recommend placing your order as soon as possible, and no later than a month in advance.
Step 5
After the paint is dry, I then apply varnish (a protective coating) which takes 24 hours to dry for shipping or pickup. The varnish that I apply shields the painting from dust and dirt as well as protecting it from UV rays. It also enhances the appearance of the artwork by increasing the saturation of colors.
Step 6
Your painting is ready! I offer local pickup depending on where you are located, as well as shipping in the US.
